1918: Taiwan Governor General Office Industrial Institute was established, providing five-year degree programs to students whose nationality was Japanese. The degree programs included Mechanical Engineering, Applied Chemistry and Civil Engineering.
1923: Taipei Prefecture Taipei First Industrial Institute and Taipei Prefecture Taipei Second Industrial Institute were merged as Taipei Prefecture Taipei Industrial Institute , consisting of five departments: Electrical engineering, Architecture, Applied Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering.
1945: The school was renamed Taiwan Provincial Taipei Vocational School of Industry. Both primary and advanced levels of programs were provided, consisting of six departments: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical and Mining.
1948: Provincial Taipei Industrial Vocational School was upgraded to be Provincial Taipei Institute of Technology, offering a five-year program, admitting junior high-school graduates to study in the fields of civil engineering.
1951: A two-year program was established in department of civil engineering, admitting industrial school graduates to major in civil engineering.
1954: A three-year program was established in department of civil engineering, admitting senior high school and vocational school graduates to study civil engineering.
1966: The Industrial Design Division of the Department of Civil Engineering was merged into the Department of Industrial Design.
1997: The National Institute of Technology was renamed National Taipei University of Technology and three more graduate institutes were established: consisting of four colleges, the Institute of Civil and Disaster Prevention Engineering was established and awards master degree to graduates.
